Making iced coffee at home is fun and simple. All you need is a blender, ice cubes, instant coffee powder, water, milk, and some flavorings.

What is Iced Coffee?

Iced coffee is a refreshing beverage that pairs well with many foods and desserts. It can even be used as a mixer for cocktails like Mai Tai. But what about those times when you want something cold and sweet? Or maybe want a cup of strong, black coffee without milk or sugar? If you’re looking for a quick and easy iced coffee recipe, look no further! This one is simple enough for kids to help make, and it’s ready in less than 10 minutes.

How do You Make Iced Coffee?

You’ve probably heard people say that iced coffee is better than regular coffee because it doesn’t taste watered down. But how does one actually prepare such a drink? We asked our resident barista, Chris, to help us out.

Chris says that he likes his iced coffee very strongly, so we suggest starting off with a medium-strength coffee. Next, fill up your glass with ice. If you want to add flavorings like cinnamon sticks or vanilla beans, place those ingredients in the glass first. Once you’ve filled the glass up to the rim, pour in the coffee. Stir well and enjoy.

If you don’t want to use ice, you can always just put some cold water in the glass and stir it around.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup freshly brewed coffee

1/4 cup whole milk

1 tablespoon honey

Directions:

In a small bowl, combine the milk and honey. Stir until combined. Pour into a tall glass filled halfway with ice cubes. Top off with hot coffee and serve immediately. Garnish with whipped cream and a cherry if desired. Enjoy!

Ice cubes are essential for iced coffee. Buy them from the store or make your own by freezing water in an ice cube tray.

What else do you need to know?

Coffee is best served chilled. However, if you prefer yours warm, simply heat it on the stovetop before serving.

When adding milk to iced coffee, remember that it will dilute the strength of the coffee. So, if you want stronger coffee, start with more coffee and then add milk.

The same goes for adding sugar. Start with a little bit of sugar and then gradually increase the amount.

To avoid getting burned, keep your hands away from the mug while stirring. Also, make sure that you have a lid on the mug.

The easy way to Make Iced Coffee

Iced coffee is one of my favorite beverages. This recipe makes about 12 cups of coffee, enough to serve over 3 people. If you don’t like sweetened coffee, feel free to use regular brewed coffee. You’ll just want to add some honey or maple syrup.

Ingredients

1 Cup Ice (or Coffee Frozen Into Cubes)

2 Cups Cold Water

1 Cup Coffee, at Room Temperature or Chilled

2 Tablespoons Cream, Milk or Half & Half

1 To 2 Teaspoons Granulated White Sugar (or Simple Syrup – See Recipe Notes Below)

Instructions

Fill a glass with ice. Pour in coffee. Add cream and sugar (if desired). Stir and drink!

Variations:

  1. Use half coffee and half hot water.
  2. Try adding chocolate chips.
  3. Consider topping it off with whipped cream.
  4. If you want a stronger cup, add some espresso powder.
  5. Add spices like cinnamon sticks or vanilla bean pods.
  6. For a non-sweet version, try using unsweetened almond milk instead of cream.
  7. Experiment with different types of coffee.
  8. Don’t be afraid to experiment with other flavors too.
  9. Feel free to swap out the ice for frozen coffee cubes.
  10. The possibilities are endless!
